2013 Scholarship Program
The 2013 Scholarship Program has been closed for the year and recipients have been notified. Please check back in March 2014 for more information and to apply.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, through its Community Services Block Grant, has made funds available to Tri-County Opportunities Council for at least fifteen (15) scholarships of up to $1,500 each for income eligible students. Preference will be given to applicants wishing to pursue high demand careers, although individuals pursuing other careers should not be discouraged from applying. Applicants of racial or ethnic minorities as well as previous scholarship recipients who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to apply.
To be eligible for a scholarship, the following criteria must be met:
The applicant’s total family income during the past 3 months must have been less than the following:
1 person - $ 3,581.63 5 persons - $ 8,615.63
2 persons - $ 4,846.88 6 persons - $ 9,871.88
3 persons - $ 6,103.13 7 persons - $ 11,128.13
4 persons - $ 7,359.38 8 persons - $ 12,384.38
For more than 8 persons, add $ 1,256.25 for each additional member.
The applicant must be planning to attend an accredited Illinois post-secondary educational institution during the fall of 2013. Scholarships will be pro-rated for less than full-time status (12 semester hours of more).
The applicant must be a resident of Bureau, Carroll, LaSalle, Lee, Marshall, Ogle, Putnam, Stark or Whiteside Counties.
Awards will be made prior to August 20, 2013. Applications must be post-marked by April 19, 2013 for their applications to be considered.
